I’m a local tuba player- spending as much time playing as I can. I studied at Indiana State University, and got my Music Business degree in 2006. During my time at ISU, I played my way to the top band; and spent a lot of time inside a sousaphone with the athletic bands. I prepared my own recital as part of my lesson curriculum.
My first music industry job was in Valparaiso, IN; where I performed in several high level community groups including Windiana, South Shore Orchestra, and South Shore Brass Band. I also had three lesson students during this time; one of which went on to study music in college.
Since moving to Central Indiana, I’ve played with Indianapolis Symphonic Band, Indianapolis Brass Choir, and Fall Creek Valley Band. I also sub with other groups as I can, including with White River Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic Band.
My favorite groups to play include brass quintet and tuba quartet.
Some of the method books I prefer are the Brass Gym by Sheridan, Rochut trombone etudes, and Low Etudes by Snedecor.
