Bio

Born in 1981 in Lexington, Kentucky, Peter Felice is a dedicated composer, educator, and performer deeply immersed in the world of music. A graduate of Lafayette High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition from Indiana University Southeast and a Master’s degree from Michigan State University. Peter also completed the Transition to Teaching program at Franklin College, becoming licensed to teach secondary education for grades 5-12.

Currently, Peter teaches music, choir, and band full-time at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, in addition to teaching part-time at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School. His primary instruments are euphonium and trombone, although he is also proficient on the trumpet. He has studied euphonium with esteemed instructors such as Brian Meixner, John R. Jones Jr., Chris Bettler, Chris Combest, and Phil Sinder, and trombone under Mildred Kemp.

Peter has an extensive performance background, having played with a variety of ensembles including The Kentucky All State Band, Fayette County Honors Band, The University of Louisville Wind Symphony, and The Louisville Philharmonia, The Derby City Brass Band, The Commonwealth Brass Band among others. He currently serves as the principal baritone and treasurer/manager of social media for The Crossroads Brass Band in Indianapolis. Peter is often praised for his musicality and dynamic contrast in performances.

In the realm of composition, Peter has received several accolades, including the Humboldt State Composition Competition and the Michigan State Honors Competition for Chamber Compositions. His works have been premiered by both professional and community ensembles throughout the Kentuckiana area, and have been featured at prestigious events such as the North America Saxophone Alliance Conference and ClarinetFest. His compositions have been published by Cimmaron Music, and his saxophone solo was produced by Centaur Records, recorded by professional saxophonist and Selmer artist Cory Barnfield. Peter Felice continues to inspire and shape the musical landscape through his teaching and creative endeavors.
