My name is Mark Molter. I reside in Lafayette, Indiana with my wife. I am a Purdue University graduate. I have been playing the saxophone for 50 years. I started out on alto sax and also played baritone sax at Tri-County HS. I continued to play the alto sax in the Purdue Jazz Band program. Since colloege, I have been playing semi-professionally in several local bands over the years with various styles of music including americana, jazz, blues, R&B, folk, country, and rock. In addition, I play acoustic americana music regionally with my brother under the name of Molter Brothers. I also play saxophone and bass guitar in the praise band at City of God Church. I play all sizes of saxophones from the tiny sopranino to the massive bass.
Some of the groups I’ve played with throughout the years include: Purdue Jazz Band, Freeport Saxophone Quartet, Lotus, Groove Catz, Scott Greeson & Trouble with Monday, New Acoustic Quintet, Jeff Anderson, Malachi Jaggers, and Molter Brothers. I also had the honor of sitting in on sax with contemporary Christian artist Rich Mullins when he performed at Purdue.
My concentration is on teaching beginner and intermediate saxophone students or adults. I give saxophone lessons in my private studio, Molter Sax Studio.
My hope is that my students will enjoy playing the sax throughout their lifetime and develop a love for the instrument. Please call me with any questions.
