Bio

Andy Sharkey is an Indiana native with a strong background performing low brass instruments for classical, commercial, jazz and theatre. Until 2021, he is on hiatus from the North American tour of Chicago The Musical, on which he plays trombone. Prior to this appointment, he was trombonist and tubist for the Tony Award-winning After Midnight on NCL.

Mr. Sharkey earned a Diploma in Trombone/Euphonium from Interlochen Arts Academy, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Taylor University, and a Master of Music from NYU Steinhardt. Classically trained first, on scholarship he attended Interlochen Arts Camp, Pierre Monteux School, CPAF’s Masterworks Festival and Colorado College Summer Music Festival as well as a year at Mannes School of Music. Music has taken him to six continents, working for arts and entertainment monoliths such as Interlochen Center for the Arts and Carnegie Hall as well as Carnival, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruise lines. His principal teachers are Don Lamb, Tom Riccobono, Adam Johnson, Weston Sprott, and John Rojak.

As an instructor, he is dedicated to ensuring each student realizes his or her specific passion in music while instilling confidence, teaching discipline, and fostering their unique potential.
