Private Teacher: Laura Haines

Laura Haines has been teaching saxophone, flute and clarinet privately and performing professionally for over 30 years. A graduate of the Indiana University School of Music, she received a Bachelor of Science in Music degree in 1982, and a Master of Music in Performance with Distinction in 1984. While at Indiana University she served as Associate Instructor of Saxophone. She also served as Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone at Ball State University in 2005, 2006, and 2010.

Laura has performed with numerous classical and jazz ensembles, including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and the Indianapolis Sax Quartet, as well as artists such as Mel Torme, The Four Tops, the Manhattan Transfer, and various Big Bands. She has recorded with the Hal Leonard Concert Band Series among others. She operates the Laura Haines Woodwind Studio in Carmel, Indiana, teaching flute, saxophone, and clarinet. An experienced teacher of beginners through college-level players, she welcomes students from the age of nine to adult, emphasizing strong fundamentals in tone production and technique, progressive reading skills, solo work, basic music theory, and performance. Students regularly perform in ISSMA district and state solo competitions and studio recitals, and regularly earn positions in All Region, Junior All State Band, and All State Band.
