Position Type: Interim Band Director

Date Available: Immediately, starting Jan. 5, 2026 if possible.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold or be eligible for the proper Indiana certification
REPORTS TO: Principal, Head Band Director
FINANCIAL TERMS: This position is an interim appointment representing one-half of a 183-day contract. Compensation will be provided as a prorated salary, calculated based on:
EDUCATIONAL DEGREE LEVEL:
- Verified years of relevant experience
- Number of days worked in the interim assignment
- These factors will be applied in accordance with the district’s contracted salary scale to determine the appropriate prorated amount.
- This interim assignment includes no benefits, retirement contributions, or other contract-based supplementary compensation
- If the selected applicant is interested in the full-time position which starts in Summer 2026, they will need to apply for that position after the interim position concludes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Team teach (with 2 other directors) the following examples:
- Advanced High School Concert Band (2nd semester)
- Intermediate Level High School Concert Band (2nd semester)
- Grades 6-8 Instrument Setting Division (Brass Classes – lead teacher)
- A specialist in brass would be ideal, but not required
- Assist with planning and organizing of all JMS Band Performances
- Assist with planning and organizing concerts and other public performances for JHS
- Communicating with large numbers of students and parents about expectations, schedules, attendanc
- Attend and assist with all performances
- Other duties as assigned.
