A native of Metro Detroit, MI, Nathan began studying percussion at the age of nine. He holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from Central Michigan University where he studied with Dr. Andrew Spencer and Dallas Symphony timpanist Brian Jones. Nathan just recently graduated with a Masters of Music Performance from The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where he studied with Chicago Symphony percussionist Vadim Karpinos and Chicago Lyric Opera timpanist Edward Harrison. Nathan was awarded fellowships to attend the Chautauqua and Hot Springs Music Festivals. As a marching performer Mr. Bushey was a member of the Winter Guard International 2008 World finalist Redline Percussion, LakeShoremen Drum and Bugle Corps and the Chicago Bulls Stampede Drumline. Nathan currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana where he is the Director of Percussion at Lawrence North High School and Fall Creek Valley Middle School. Nathan is the director of the Lawrence Township Winter Percussion Group and Co-Percussion Director of the Marching Pride of Lawrence Township.. He enjoys cycling, spending time with family and friends as well as eating great food.
