My name is Gregg L. Cook, and my entire life has been centered around music and education. I have been a band director for 14 years in Center Grove as a middle school and high school band director, and at Honey Creek middle school in Terre Haute. While at Center Grove the high school marching band won two state championships. three runnerup finishes, and two third place finishes in Class A competition. And at Honey Creek my bands received state and national honors, including being selected as a national middle school conference honor band (one of 7). Every middle school and high school concert or jazz band I has ever taken to contest received a division one gold rating. Also, I was selected as a member of instrumental music educators to create the test for music education college graduates to pass to be eligible for licensure as a music teacher. I was voted outstanding teacher of the year two times within my school corporation and within my individual school.

I have served as music adjudicator for numerous ISSMA events, marching band judge outside Indiana in all categories of music, visual, and effect, (However without a doubt music is my favorite category), and I have served as guest conductor numerous times around the state at AllRegion middle school band as well as many individual middle schools and high schools. Finally, I have also served as music and band consultant for numerous bands throughout Indiana.

As a trumpet performer in high school, I was a 3 time Indiana AllState Band performer, and two time AllAmerican. As a senior I was one of two students from each state chosen to perform in the most prestigeous school ensemble in the United States, the McDonald’s AllAmerican High School Band. In college I performed with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra, as well as a studio musician at Pine Brook studios in Alexandria, Indiana. When not performing in organized ensembles, I was a freelance soloist/performer/musician at churches, weddings etc...throughout central Indiana.

In college I graduated with a 4.0 g.p.a. in music and education. I was the only student selected for honors from the schools of music and education. My overall g.p.a.was 3.97 and I graduated summa cum laude and was often substitute guest teacher in college theory and ear training classes. Too, all of my graduate studies have received a 4.0 g.p.a.

I have had private students selected to the Indiana AllState bands on all band instruments, and will now be focusing my teaching on all Brass instruments, beginner through high school.

Also, if students live close enough to my residence, or there are enough in one location such as at a middle school or a high school, I would prefer teaching lessons at the students’ homes or in a school building setting. I am even willing to travel long distances and possibly stay over night and teach two days if there are enough students. If you in close proximity to my residence, traveling close by is easier and more productive for all involved for ME to travel to YOUR home or school for the lessons.

Other than my beautiful daughters, WHO ARE MY LIFE, I have dedicated my life to music education at all levels, and student personal development, and now I again look forward to working with private students as well as doing guest conducting and consulting around central Indiana and the state, or beyond if requested and details worked out.

Question: The greatest honor I’ve ever had bestowed upon me? Answer: My two amazing daughters!
